Room at various angles.

...Because Edgeworth is very well-off, there will be no question that he will request as much from the castle as he can to feel 'at home.' Therefore, his room will be inspired by a room of one of his favourite hotel suites - the Hazlitts in Soho, London. The hotel room is a bit smaller than it appears in the picture, but is extremely richly furnished and decorated. However, with opulence comes a price, as usual, and because of Edgeworth's fastidious tastes, the castle will inflict upon him at least one temporary loss per month. Unbeknownst to Edgeworth, of course.

At any given time, there will be a book or two on the bed, and others placed sporadically at various crevasses within the room.  There is another, smaller partition of the room containing a couch, small table, and chair. There are a pair of small speakers, a heated blanket, a small fridge with at least two wine bottles, and a heating apparatus that doesn't emit microwaves. There's also a burgundy/blue chess set. There's no television, no futon, and of course, no Oldbag . There is a black box on the desk that requires not only a key to be opened, but a sliding puzzle to be solved. There's also a medium-sized kitchen. The bathroom is nothing particularly fascinating, as he doesn't spend enough time in there to feel the need to expend too much effort in decorating it, and it is much smaller than one may expect after seeing the room. There is, however, a clean bathtub lined with a few red/gold, unused candles.

It's not really big enough for that with two people sitting on it. [And he still doesn't want you to go.]

The other option would involve kicking Edgeworth =D

[His feet are planted firmly on the ground.]

I expect you to do your own thing while I go about being your friend. In other words... I don't really expect anything from you. Just continue being yourself. [Also let me lean on you when I feel bad ;;]

How do you propose I go about doing that simply by being myself?

I just think that, with time, "being yourself" will include a few real smiles like that.

Is it so wrong for me to have faith in your future happiness?

You're my friend. Seeing you happy is important to me.

[This is true--he'd tell Maya the same thing in the right situation--but it's probably not the whole truth. Oh well.]

The very concept of 'happiness' eludes me. Each time I seek said 'happiness,' I realize that any semblance of such is simply going to be mercilessly retracted when I least expect it, so much so that I end up expecting it, and that all of my efforts will eventually end up futile.

...

I think I will simply give up on happiness and simply settle with 'contentedness.' That seems to be good enough. Is that alright?

That is one of the saddest things I've ever heard. No, contentedness isn't good enough, but it's a start. Just give me a chance to make you happy. I know I can do it.

[At that, Edgeworth places his left elbow upon the arm of the chair, and rested his temple upon his middle and index fingers. He peers at Wright from beneath his bangs, flashing him an almost coy smirk...]


...Really, now? I hope you know that's a rather audacious offer...

I'm a pretty "audacious" guy most of the time.

[He's only halfway sure he's defining that word correctly, but damn he wants to sound smart right now.]

And I mean what I say. I'm sorry, but you're not getting rid of me. I'm a leech. And I'm slowly going to drain away that sadness you're building up.

[Lowers his voice to an overly-dramatic whisper and wiggles his fingers in a "spooky" way]

Hmm...Judging by all of this, I can already see that there is bound to be quite a few interesting developments on the horizon, Mr. ...Phoenix Von Karma.
