Room at various angles.

...Because Edgeworth is very well-off, there will be no question that he will request as much from the castle as he can to feel 'at home.' Therefore, his room will be inspired by a room of one of his favourite hotel suites - the Hazlitts in Soho, London. The hotel room is a bit smaller than it appears in the picture, but is extremely richly furnished and decorated. However, with opulence comes a price, as usual, and because of Edgeworth's fastidious tastes, the castle will inflict upon him at least one temporary loss per month. Unbeknownst to Edgeworth, of course.

At any given time, there will be a book or two on the bed, and others placed sporadically at various crevasses within the room. There is another, smaller partition of the room containing a couch, small table, and chair. There are a pair of small speakers, a heated blanket, a small fridge with at least two wine bottles, and a heating apparatus that doesn't emit microwaves. There's also a burgundy/blue chess set. There's no television, no futon, and of course, no Oldbag . There is a black box on the desk that requires not only a key to be opened, but a sliding puzzle to be solved. There's also a medium-sized kitchen. The bathroom is nothing particularly fascinating, as he doesn't spend enough time in there to feel the need to expend too much effort in decorating it, and it is much smaller than one may expect after seeing the room. There is, however, a clean bathtub lined with a few red/gold, unused candles.

Well, in the vaguest sense, yes...

You have a way of seeing the good in everyone. I'll just beseech you to not overestimate the goodness in me. I know myself well. And what I've gathered is that I have a horrid habit of spurning the very same closeness that I may even have initially desired...and I realize...

[Pauses.]

...It's a force of habit. The more attached I realize that I am growing to someone, the more I attempt to push them away...

[He's listening to all this as he sketches, intent, it seems, on both actions at once. It takes him a while to formulate his response--not wanting to say the wrong thing, since he realizes what it is for Edgeworth to be confiding in him.]

....I think... that... from my perspective on this, being close to you will be worth the extra effort and tough skin it'll probably require.

So even if you're pushing me away, I'm still not giving up on you.

[He offers a lopsided little grin and turns the sketchbook around to reveal an unfinished, but much more apparent than it was previously, sketch of Edgeworth smiling.]

It's a smile. It looks nice on you--even fake you.

I can see that. I don't see how you could claim to never have seen me smile before. I smile quite often... When I uncover a brilliant lead in a case or experience some other triumph, I smile. Am I not smiling now?

It's different. I'm talking about a real, happy smile. Not a "victorious" smile or whatever. ...just trust me, it's different.

I'm usually happy when I'm victorious.

[Headshake]

[He stretches and puts his feet on the table. Because he's classy like that.]

[He pauses and ...simply stares at Phoenix for a good moment.]

...And just when I thought there could be nothing more delightful than to have our bowl of fruit accompanied by your feet...

It's not really big enough for that with two people sitting on it. [And he still doesn't want you to go.]
