Room at various angles.

...Because Edgeworth is very well-off, there will be no question that he will request as much from the castle as he can to feel 'at home.' Therefore, his room will be inspired by a room of one of his favourite hotel suites - the Hazlitts in Soho, London. The hotel room is a bit smaller than it appears in the picture, but is extremely richly furnished and decorated. However, with opulence comes a price, as usual, and because of Edgeworth's fastidious tastes, the castle will inflict upon him at least one temporary loss per month. Unbeknownst to Edgeworth, of course.

At any given time, there will be a book or two on the bed, and others placed sporadically at various crevasses within the room.  There is another, smaller partition of the room containing a couch, small table, and chair. There are a pair of small speakers, a heated blanket, a small fridge with at least two wine bottles, and a heating apparatus that doesn't emit microwaves. There's also a burgundy/blue chess set. There's no television, no futon, and of course, no Oldbag . There is a black box on the desk that requires not only a key to be opened, but a sliding puzzle to be solved. There's also a medium-sized kitchen. The bathroom is nothing particularly fascinating, as he doesn't spend enough time in there to feel the need to expend too much effort in decorating it, and it is much smaller than one may expect after seeing the room. There is, however, a clean bathtub lined with a few red/gold, unused candles.

Yes... There is. You're sharp as ever, of course, so I'm sure it doesn't surprise you that it's not something I can really talk about right now.

[Relieved to be out of the water again, he makes his way some distance back from the tide and sits down on the ground.]

[Once Phoenix is seated, he remains standing. He looms over Phoenix with arms crossed, looking down at him with an utterly displeased expression, though quite a bit softer than his usual glare. The expression is a mixture of confusion, worry and frustration. He's about ready to tell Phoenix that he's going to leave, though that will leave far too many niggling loose ends for one night.]








Don't let this night pass without telling me something, at the very least.

[And for a moment, he considers it. He considers telling Edgeworth of his bizarre little truth, that reason for this frustration and loneliness, and all that talk of Edgeworth getting what he wants. It might be easier, in the end, to just have out with it.

But he supposes he would die of embarrassment and the inevitable scorn that would follow.]

Indeed. The night is young, yet you were the first to attempt to leave. Is this 'intimidation' of me that you spoke of so great that you are paralyzed with fear of judgement and feel the need to conceal things from ...me, of all people?


[He would have said, 'your best friend,' though he could not recall ever having heard Phoenix directly refer to him as such. In actuality, he wasn't quite sure how Phoenix labeled him...]

You know how I am. It's not hard for you to tell if I'm happy or upset or whatever.





But this isn't something I can get into. Not right now. It... I need time. At the very least, I need time. ...maybe I'll tell you about it someday.

[He collapses into the sand and onto his back in such a way that his body is perpendicular to, and but a few inches away from, the sitting Phoenix.]


...I am exhausted. I am confused, frustrated...and because of you, I am also now wet.


[He tilts his head to the right, looking up at Phoenix as he chuckles lowly]


...and you dare to leave me like this? You fiend.

[What an opportunity--were this any other of his friends, a dive-bomb hug or tickle attack would be imminent. But Phoenix's respect for Edgeworth reaches far enough to keep him from bothering him any more this night. He smiles.]

I'm not going anywhere if you don't want me to. Say the word and I'll stay here on this beach with you all night.

There is a word for that? Or are you expecting me to say, 'the word,' literally?

Oh, was I? My apologies. [He closes his eyes and inhales]



...Are my options only limited to the beach?

[He quirks an eyebrow.]

You're the one who suggested coming here in the first place, but... ...no, I guess not.

[Eyes remain closed.]

Well, I didn't intend to stay here all night...

[He leans back on his palms.]














I never have liked this beach much anyway.

[His eyes snap open and he props himself upon his elbows, blinking a Phoenix.]


Really, now?

[It's a completely mischievous grin he's wearing when he returns that look.]



I always act like a fool when I'm here.

You have a tendency to do so in court as well, and yet that hasn't stopped you from being a lawyer.

Gee, thanks.

[He sticks his tongue out.]

[He remains propped upon his elbows and looks off into the distant sea.]


I found it quite amusing when you had asked me earlier about the 'last person' I had kissed...
